Although it is also the name of our first project, SONO is a creative collective that looks to express in different forms; musically, visually, and/or dynamically.
We believe that art has no limitations or rules and so we express ourselves. SONO is liquid and can take the form we want. We, therefore, can work with whatever creative field.
Although collaborations are an important part of SONO, the core members are Sara Bigatti, Ayla Losada, Jeroen Berends, and Alberto Pérez.
In SONO, we believe that art should have no stylistic boundaries. Therefore, we open ourselves to a mixture of genres, styles, and influences from our surroundings.
We envision SONO as a creative collective that produces videos and performs at venues, events and festivals.
SONO was born from one project, from a story to tell.
JEROEN BERENDS - DIRECTOR
Jeroen Berends is a photographer and video-creative. Educated by YouTube and experiments, SONO is a project that gave him room to experiment some more. He is a firm believer that you need to play in order to keep creative. Setting the scene and lighting it to create the association with the innerworld, a headspace if you will, is his latest play.
ALBERT MAE - MUSIC PRODUCER, LIVE ELECTRONICS
Albert Mae (Alberto Pérez) is a creator, performer, and entrepreneur in equal parts. He plays all the brass instruments and live electronics. He loves jamming, arranging, composing, recording, and producing music. Trained as a classical tuba player, he now founded his own music academy in Utrecht, in which he teaches students to be open-minded and to experiment with music.
AYLA - CELLIST, COMPOSER
Ayla Losada is a cellist, pianist and music artist. She considers herself a multidisciplinary musician. Ayla sees the music as a way of expression and communication with the audience and with oneself; an opportunity to create. Her principal inspiration is learning from different genres, and playing and experimenting with music from the early period until the most avant-garde styles. Besides her involvement with SONO, she is an active music teacher and performer of both instruments, piano and cello.
SARA BIGATTI - DANCER, CHOREOGRAPHER
Sara is a movement coach, born in Italy and living in the Netherlands since 2017. Her main focus is intentional and conscious movement, which she accesses through breath; her primary intention is to bridge movement and breath, creating an harmonious flow.
Sara’s movement journey has been incredibly shifted when she discovered Animal Flow in 2019 and decided to integrate it with mentorships and courses about breathwork. This gave birth to a powerful combination and a continuous dance.
Sara loves questions, she enjoys making art about empathy, dualities, unclear themes where mobility is necessary to navigate.
